While establishing a local entity is common in France, it is not strictly required. Foreign employers without a local entity, known as a Non Resident Entities (ESEF - entreprise sans établissement en France), must still register as a foreign company in French registries and connect with URSSAF to ensure covering employees benefits like health insurance, retirement, and family allowances.

Employment Essentials:

  • Submit the DPAE (Declaration of Employment) 48 hours before the employee’s start date.
  • Set a clear employment contract, specifying working hours (typically 35 per week), probation period, job title, and salary.
  • Health insurance for employees is mandatory, and some industries require specific coverage.
  • Arrange for a medical examination and a complementary health insurance and pension plan
